I have ventured back to Vox - apparently after almost a year. My plans, as I read my one and only post, to take a tour to Tibet didn't eventuate. Had a million people interested, but only one who would make a commitment. So I went by myself for a short stay in November 07 and decided that I would cancel and disappoint the one, rather than persevere and be out of pocket myself. That decision was fortuitous in two ways - our date for departure was set for 1 April 08, which effectively saw Tibet closed to the world. We wouldn't have been able to get there anyway. The one special soul who was totally committed actually used the time to travel closer to home - met the man of her dreams after many single years and has now embarked on a wonderful new, happy life. So in spite of me feeling dreadful that I had let her down, she is ecstatic that she didn't go - or she wouldn't have met her guy. Life is full of surprises.
It has been a long and momentous year in many ways. Many belong to the old world of WhitePages (BlogNow) and shall stay there. But the new are ready for an airing.
New work, new home, new daughter-in-law, not one but two new grandchildren, new challenges both personally and professionally. I wonder is 2006/2007 finally behind me now - halfway through 2008. I hope so.
I will have another attempt to find my way around Vox - I actually miss my small circle of blog friends.
For now - welcome Chelsea and TJ. Some updated photos are in order.
.....maybe this is another place I can promote my tour group plan. I have blogged before, but not on Vox. I guess if I am offering a Tibet tour then anybody is my target market. Right???
So I will see how I go getting my brochure into blog-format, although being a non-geek will make it specially tricky for me.
I've been to Tibet 3 times now and want to go again and again. I met an 86 year old Dutch lady on a walking frame last year in Lhasa, with her young Tibetan granddaughter helping her get around. She told me she had been 12 times now and her greatest regret was that she didn't come earlier. So I figure that if she can still do it at 86, then I had better get started. I just love the culture, the people, the environment - and I have a dream to share it with others, so they can come home and form opinions with some basis in fact. Even HH The Dalai Lama says we should see Tibet for ourselves, then come back and tell the story.
But essentially - April 08, small group (6 only) tour of Tibet, personalised and organised by myself, lots of interesting add-ins which you won't get with the big tour companies, and an absolutely fantastic trip if you love the idea of seeing Tibet. We will visit China/Tibet/Nepal. I don't mind the age group, it won't be a KonTiki Tour and it won't be a Grey Nomads tour. Just a small group of friends passing a month together.
Stay tuned
